Candelabria, also known as the Candelabræm Encyclopedia, is an encyclopedia that hosts information about the future company and project Candelabræm created by the storyteller Mar Qaroll. Articles are primarily written in an encyclopedic format, emulating the style of Wikipedia.
Since 2007, information hubs on this one-manned project were scattered around the internet in defunct wiki farms such as Wikispaces to other major wiki hosts such as Classic Google Sites and even Wikipedia.
What is "Candelabræm"?
"Dark, daring, and diverse" isn't the easiest thing to say, but it's the best way to describe the special brand of "unique" and "unusual" Candelabræm will—and has—to offer to those who love darkness in all its forms. We are storytellers, writers, and creatives who want to tell stories, create art, and are firmly against censorship and creative hypocrisy.
We consider ourselves those who write and draw in dark corners, curled with a notebook or laptop or other, an animal of our choosing to keep us company, and our minds conjuring up deliciously dark and daring creations.
Candelabræm, occasionally spelled Candelabrem online, is the lifelong project of the storyteller and creative, Mar Qaroll. It is planned and in development to become a counterculture-inspired (or in some instances, counterculture-based) company and community that roots itself in publishing books and creating visual arts. Over the past twenty years, it has had several names, most notably DeVerse. For as long as it has existed, it was meant to be the blueprint for a company or business endeavor in some form. Despite this, Mar only started to take the project "seriously" after the completion of his first novel in 2017 and took the first major steps toward bringing the project to life in 2023.
The project bases itself on ideals important to Mar, such as freedom of thought and expression and creative freedom through fiction with topics or elements the Western mainstream finds socially abhorrent or extremely taboo. Examples of these things exist in several of the stories Candelabræm Books will publish, but this doesn't mean it will only publish stories with these elements. Less offensive stories and visual arts with elements known and more widely accepted by the Western mainstream will also come under Candelabræm's name. (read more...)
